Special Angel

CLYDE — Martha Ann Ferguson, 71, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at MedWest-Haywood.

A native of Madison County, she resided in Haywood County for the past 26 years.  She was the daughter of the late Richmond Pearson and Mae Bell Ferguson.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Christine Garnes, Betty King, Jeannette Perdue and Maggie Gunde; four brothers, Joe “Bud,” Jack, Guy, and Troy Ferguson; and special nephew-in-law and caregiver for 26 years, David Hensley.

Martha was loved by everyone who knew her, always making everyone smile.  Her smile was contagious and she always saw the bright side to life.  You never saw Martha without her favorite drink, Pepsi-Cola.  She also loved her dog, “Lady Bug,” and some of her favorite things were her watch, catalogs, coins, and her family.  Martha was an angel on earth and our loss is Heaven’s gain.

She is survived by two sisters, Blanche Rogers, of Clyde, and Lucy Hardy, and her husband, Charles, of Maryland; one brother, Bob Ferguson, and his wife, Shirley, of Clyde; special niece and caregiver of 26 years, Teresa Hensley, and her daughters, Rachelle and Katie Ferguson and Michaela and Haley Hensley; as well as nieces and nephew, Rachel, Susan and Richard Ferguson; and also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.  A special thanks to her other caregivers, Shirley and Rachelle Ferguson, Mike Hill, Sharon Gibson, Kim Raines, Renée Scott, and hospital nurse, Amber James.
