Martha L. Knox
Loving Mother, Grandmother
CANTON — Martha Louise McSwain Knox, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2014.
Martha was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, to the late DeWhitt McSwain and the late Christine Larry McSwain. She had resided most of her life in Pacolet, South Carolina, and retired from SCT Yarns in Gaffney. Her loyal and dedicated career in the textile industry extended for more than 42 years. In 1978, Martha relocated to Lincolnton, where she lived until moving to Canton to be closer to her son, Rick. She had made her home here for the past 18 months. Martha was truly a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting and blessed others by the sharing of her many talents. Martha will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her as loving all children unconditionally and as being loved, "well thought of" and respected.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Lewis Knox, who passed away in 1981, and a son, James William Knox.
She is survived by her sons, Rick Knox, of Canton, and Henry Wesley Knox, of Cherryville; a daughter, Janice Knox Reynolds, of North Carolina; a special niece, Shirley Willingham, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, June 10, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. The Rev. Jason Miller will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
The family would like to thank the staff and employees of Haywood House of Canton for the love and care they gave Martha.
