PANTHER CREEK — Marvin Earl Arrington, 91, of the Panther Creek Community, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012. Marvin was born July 6, 1921, to the late Amos and Effie Rathbone Arrington. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music as well as farming and gardening. He was a Sunday school teacher and Deacon of Panther Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years. Lucy Faye Kirkpatrick Arrington; one brother, D.B. Arrington; and one granddaughter, Angela Renea Sherrill. He is survived by two daughters, Betty Francis (Bob) and Phyllis Ledbetter (Don); one grandson, Ronny Francis; one great-granddaughter, Abi Francis; two step granddaughters and five step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Panther Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Ronnie Green and Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Howard Messer, Mike Payne, Heath Pressley, Jerry Trantham, Ronny Francis, Billy Hannah and Ralph Hannah.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Pearlene Brown, 5140 Panther Creek Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
