Our Granny Liford
CANTON — Mary Jane Earley Liford, 85, of Canton, entered into the arms of Heaven’s angels Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.
Mrs. Liford was born June 4, 1927, in Haywood County to the late Randolf Earley and the late Inga Rebecca Cathey Earley. She was a lifelong resident of Canton and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her spiritual faith played an important part in her life and she was a devoted member of Mountain View Church of God. Mary enjoyed “going out to eat” with her friends and family and she always felt blessed with happiness when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were truly her pride and joy. Her delicious chocolate cakes and pies were favorites at family gatherings and she also graciously shared these with her friends throughout the community. Our treasured memories of Mary Earley Liford will be a part of each of us forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Liford, who passed away in 1982; her son-in-law, Dwight “Sonny” Willis; two brothers ; and a sister.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Taylor, and her husband, Roy Taylor, of Canton, and Vickie Willis, of Canton; grandchildren, Rob Taylor, and his wife, Candie Taylor, of Kenly, Tracy Willis, and his wife, Jacqueline Willis, of Canton, and John Taylor, and his wife, Teri Taylor, of Canton; great-grandchildren, Evan, Jacob, Peyton, Jordan and Cobie; sisters-in-law, Creola Bradburn, of Canton, and Ethel Hatherlee, of Canton; and a host of friends who loved her dearly.
The funeral service was held at noon, Thursday, Feb. 21, at Mountain View Church of God. Pastor Rob Taylor, Mrs. Liford’s grandson, and Pastor Herman Toney officiated at the funeral service. Special music was presented by Mr. Roy Taylor, Mrs. Liford’s son-in-law. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial was in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Mrs. Liford’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren served as pallbearers.
