Mary Helen Davis Fields Haynes
LOWGAP — Mrs. Mary Helen Davis Fields Haynes, 90, of 118 Hemlock St., Lowgap, wife of Claude Haynes, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Haywood County to the late James Robert Davis and Grace Jeanette Foster Davis Foster. She was a retired paint supervisor for the Newport News Ship Building Drydock Company and was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church.
Surviving are husband, Claude Haynes; a daughter, Sandra H. Rhodes, of Lowgap; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. Aiken Sr. and Mary Ann, of Lowgap, Larry Moody and Barbara, of Lowgap, and Danny Moody and Henrietta, of Niagara Falls, New York; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mattie Ogden, of Waynesville, Sarah Taylor, of Hampton, Virginia, Ada Wilson, of Cashiers, Betty Pratt, of Summer, Texas, and Peggy Weeter, of Amarillo, Texas; four brothers, Gene Franklin, of Kent, Washington, Noah Foster, of Cashiers, J.L. Foster, of Cahiers, and Kenneth Foster, of Cashiers; and nieces, Doris Ann Clark, of Clyde, and Nancy Cherry, of Waynesville.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by a son, Michael Moody; two sisters, Shelby Emmizer and Evelyn Clark; and two brothers, Tommy Davis and Kenneth Davis.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Revs. Russell Parsons, the Euel Vernon and Ronnie Harris. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
