MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER, ED KELLEY, OFFERS PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES!
TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - From Camera to Computer
Master Photographer, Ed Kelley, who has achieved prominence for his stunning photographic images, still lives near his birthplace in the North Carolina Mountains; both sides of his family have been in the area for many generations. He loves exploring the Southern Appalachians, but has travelled to many natural areas of the U.S. As a young man, he turned to photography as both a way to learn about nature and to share his appreciation of its intense beauty. Ed is a self-taught digital photographer and artist with much experience in shooting film, graphic design, computers in general, painting and drawing in a variety of mediums. He is also a multi-instrumentalist who enjoys making music with his friends and making friends through music. He considers himself an amateur naturalist, is a decent birder and knows most of the wildflowers and trees of the Great Smoky Mountains.
The Inspired Art Ministry, Inc. is pleased to announce a 4 week course taught by Ed at the First Baptist Church, 100 S. Main St., Waynesville; cost $145. Ed is offering three classes: Tuesdays, beginning October 30, 1:30-4:00 and 6:30-9:00pm and on 2 Saturdays, 9:30-12:00 and 1:30-4:00. All classes include at least one outdoor hands-on photo shoot.
If you are serious about becoming a better photographer with your digital camera, here is an opportunity to do just that. Photography can be as simple as looking through the viewfinder and pressing the shutter, but capturing better images means taking control of your camera and the images it produces. I have designed my classes to simplify important technical aspects of digital photography that stand in the way of improving photography skills.” Classes are geared toward those with some experience and who own a DSLR, advanced point & shoot, or any digital camera that has a manual mode or manual override. The core principles will be the same. Class size is limited to 12 to allow for as much individual instruction as possible, and to allow each person to learn the functions of their cameras using buttons & menus. There will be quite a bit of hands-on practice in every class. The basic tenets of photography such as shutter speed and f-stop, exposure, and composition will be taught. However, digital photography is a result of, and makes use of, technology. The more technical aspects will be taught with on-screen demos, comparisons and charts for visualization and easy comprehension. Ed will be using many of his photographs as examples for explaining techniques used to capture them. You may view samples of Ed’s work at wwwEdKelley.com.
