CLYDE — Mr. Max G. Robinson Sr., 76, of Clyde, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. He was born in Haywood County to the late Jennings and Mary Hipps Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Marvin Gerry Robinson; brother, Dale Robinson; and a sister, Freida Angus.
Max served our country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He retired from Champion Paper, with 43 years of service. He was also a Boy Scout Troop Leader and served on the board for approximately 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Wilde Robinson, of the home; sons, Max Gerry Robinson Jr., of Canton, Jason Rhymer, and his wife, Valerie, of Charlotte, Michael Rhymer, and his wife, Elaine of Atlanta; brothers, Dean Robinson, and his wife, Mary Jane, of Canton, Garthe Robinson, of Texas, Jennings Robinson, of Michigan; sisters, Carolyn Singleton, of Canton, Jennifer Horneberger, of Asheville, Rebecca Krause, of Michigan; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
