May 22 is 'Pesticide Disposal Collection Day' in Haywood

May 20, 2013

North Carolina Cooperative Extension and North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services will co-sponsor a Pesticide Collection Day for the public on Wednesday, May 22, at the Haywood County Cooperative Extension Center on Raccoon Road.

On the collection day, we can collect any pesticides (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, etc.) that are in original containers and are clearly labeled.

There is no charge for this service; however, we cannot accept products with unknown identities, products that are unlabeled, or products not in pesticide containers.

Other items that cannot be accepted are paints and other household hazardous waste materials. There is no requirement for pre-registration and you can simply bring your material to the collection site between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for disposal assistance.

If you have containers greater than 5 gallons in size, please call the Extension office in advance so that we can properly handle the materials. This event is only available every two years so be sure to bring your unused and unwanted pesticides on Wednesday for proper disposal.

Call the Extension office at 456-3575 for details.
