WAYNESVILLE —Maye Davis Boyd, 97, passed away, Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing Home.

Daughter of the late Robert L. and Elizabeth Harrell Davis, pioneer families of Haywood County, she was the wife of Troy Boyd who died in March 1978. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Lee Kelley and Pauline Warren and six brothers, Grover, Robert, Eugene, Johnny, D. C. and J. T. Davis, all of Waynesville.

Maye was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School. She attended Western Carolina University where she received a B. S. and M. A. Degrees. She taught school 34 years in Haywood County, retiring from Central Elementary School as a first grade teacher in August 1977.
