McClure named SAC Player of the Week

Former Pisgah standout honored by conference for third time this season

ROCK HILL, South Carolina — Lenoir-Rhyne University senior guard R.J. McClure, a former Pisgah standout, has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week for the third time this season, officials announced on Monday.
McClure averaged 24.5 points and five rebounds in leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a pair of league victories over Coker (77-68) and Mars Hill (86-77) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
McClure also connected on 14-of-17 free throw attempts for the week and earned the honor for the third time this season.
McClure finished with a game-high 25 points and became the 51st player to score 1,000 points in school history on Senior Night against the Cobras at home.
In the regular season finale on the road versus the Lions, McClure led all scorers with 24 points as the Bears ran their winning streak to five games.  McClure currently leads the squad in scoring (17.8 ppg) and three-pointers made (74) this season.
Lenoir-Rhyne (16-10, 15-7) finished the season tied for third in the SAC and hosts fifth-seeded Newberry (18-8, 14-8) in an 8 p.m. quarterfinal at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium tonight.
