McKinley Paul Burris
BETHEL — McKinley Paul Burris, 90, of Pigeon Road, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his residence.
A native of Graham County, he had resided in Haywood County for the past 61 years. He was the son of the late George and Myrtle Crisp Burris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; five brothers; and two great-grandchildren. McKinley was owner of Burris Landscaping and a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church in Graham County. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working and watching the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Lee Burris; three daughters, Faye Norman (Douglas), of Crestview, Florida, Karen Kimbel, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Sandra B. Cooke (Daryl), of Canton; three sons, David Burris (Susie), of Waynesville, Keith Burris (Sherry), of Canton and Randy Burris (Debbie), of Bethel; one sister, Dare Rogers (Doyce), of Waynesville; one brother, Landon Burris (Bonnie), of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous fishing and hunting buddies.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Panther Creek Cemetery in Almond. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
