MedWest Haywood celebrates Hospital Week
MedWest Haywood will celebrate the contributions of every team member that helps to provide safe, excellent patient care throughout its entire healthcare system during National Hospital Week, which is observed from May 11 through May 17. MedWest Haywood will host several internal activities to remind staff that no matter their role, they are the patient experience. The theme for their celebration this year is “Always Ready.” It references the willingness of healthcare workers to dedicate their lives to the service of their community’s healthcare needs.
— A picnic for healthcare system staff, served by members of health system leadership
— An Iron Chef-style cook-off between two physicians
— A reveal of the new name of the café, voted on by MedWest Haywood team members
— A lunchtime-movie premier, where lunch guests will have an opportunity to see movies of MedWest Haywood staff telling stories of why they chose a career in healthcare
National Hospital Week began in 1921 by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate fears the public had about hospitals. The celebration was launched in Chicago and succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public. It eventually spread to facilities across the country.
“We have such an incredible team of caregivers here at MedWest Haywood,” said Janie Sinacore-Jaberg, president and CEO of MedWest Haywood. “Each team member contributes to the safe, high quality care we deliver every day, from the team members who greet the patient, to those who prepare the room, those who provide the direct patient care, and everyone in between. I want to thank everyone for their hard work every day, and wish everyone a very Happy Hospital Week!”
