A Special Lady

WAYNESVILLE — Our beautiful and beloved Melisa “Lisa” Diane Laws Thomas, age 63, of Waynesville, passed away into the arms of the angels on Friday, Feb, 10, 2017.

Lisa was born December 23, 1953, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, and resided in Lenior before moving to Haywood County in 1984 to make her home. During 1984, Lisa and her loving husband, Ed, were joined in marriage and they began a wonderful life together. Lisa was a devoted homemaker and she had a great love and compassion for all animals. She was an avid reader and she also enjoyed watching movies.

Lisa was truly a blessing to so many and her life journey brought love and happiness into the hearts of everyone who knew her. We give thanks for the life of Melisa “Lisa” Diane Laws Thomas.

She is survived by her husband, Edward “Ed” C. Thomas of Waynesville; her mother and step-father, Elizabeth Rogers and Roy Rogers of Lenoir; sisters, Angela Causby and her husband, Thomas Causby and their daughter, Chantel Causby of Lenoir; her sisters, Jackie Parsons of Lenoir, Druscilla Grady of Lenior and Erana Rogers and her husband, Matt Crisp of Lenior; brothers, Keith Howell of Lenior, Royce Rogers and his wife, Tracy Rogers of Lenior and Quinton Howell and his wife Carolyn Howell of Lenior; a stepdaughter, Kay Dziuba and her husband, Pawel Dziuba and their daughters, Lexi and Keli and their son, Derryl  of Cumming, GA; a step-son, Craig Thomas of Roanoke, VA; sisters-in-law, Verbie Caldwell and her husband, Vernon Caldwell of Calhoun, GA, Margaret Bowman and her husband, Gary Bowman of Calhoun, GA and Barbara Thomas of Toccoa, GA;  cousin and dear friends, Theresa and Joe Lohrig of Baltimore, MD;' and Lisa’s special cat, Milo, that she loved dearly.

To honor of Lisa’s request, there will be no formal funeral services held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, 256 Industrial Park Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
