CANTON — Michael "Doc" Dale Willis, 59, of Mitchell Street, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012.

Michael was born Feb. 11, 1953, in Haywood County.  He had made his home in Canton most of his life and was a 1971 graduate of Pisgah High School. Mike was an outstanding athlete and was a member of the Pisgah football, basketball and track teams.

In his younger years he also entertained many with his championship style of mountain clogging.  Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having honorably served on the USS Constellation.  He was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church and was the owner and operator of Willis Carpets.  "Doc" loved to fish, enjoyed cooking and spending time with his friends. He loved all of his family deeply and his grandchildren were the light of ...
