Michaels opened Thursday afternoon to a crowd of about 100 who had heard the store was opening earlier than the planned grand opening on Sunday. A "friends and family" event was scheduled for Thursday evening, but when the crowd began forming around noon, the national chain known for being a major supply retailer for those into arts and crafts offerings accelerated its plan.

Store manager Donna Bussard noted the Dallas, Texas, based company is the world's largest custom frame custom floral supplier, specializing in dried and silk materials for arrangements.

A grand opening event will be held at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, with the store opening at 10 a.m.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
