Middle school buildings get new roofs

Both Canton and Waynesville middle schools will have buildings reroofed this year.

Roofs in both A and B buildings at Canton Middle School are projected to cost $126,500, while the Bowles Building roof at Waynesville Middle will cost $168,000.

Tracy Hargrove, the school maintenance supervisor, told the county commissioners Monday the school system spends about $300,000 a year to reroof buildings.

The funds are part of the state lottery proceeds, which amount to about $511,000 annually, Hargrove said.
