Missing teen found in Asheville

A 13-year-old Waynesville girl who went missing June 28 was found safe in Asheville today.

Laura Contreras was found with 17-year-old David Pantaleon, who was recently indicted by a Haywood County Grand Jury for statutory rape involving Contreras.

Detectives believe the two may have run away together.

Pantaleon is currently in custody and charges against him are pending, said Lt. Chris Chandler with the Waynesville Police Department.
