MLK holiday weekend events set
The following events have been announced for the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday weekend:
• Jan. 19 — Pride March at 11 a.m. beginning at Harris Chapel AME Zion Church, Hillside St., in Canton, and ending at the Canton Town Annex. A free movie titled “Skin” will be shown after the march at 1 and 6 p.m. at the Colonial Theatre, in Canton.
• Jan. 20 — Commemorative service at 3 p.m. at The Church of God of Prophecy, in Canton. The speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Lamont Foster, pastor of Harris chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, in Canton.
• Jan. 21 — Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Lambuth Inn dinning room, Lake Junaluska. The speaker will be Bishop Ivan Abrahams, general secretary, World Methodist Council, Lake Junaluska.
