Mother accused of stealing television

The following is a listing of reported arrests from the Waynesville Police Department from Sept. 27 to Oct. 4. All suspects are innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.

25-year-old Jillian Gail Ives of Asheville was arrested Sept. 27 after allegedly stealing a television from Walmart in Waynesville.

According to police reports, the store alerted authorities of the stolen item, which had the security tag cut out. Tyler Howell, a police officer from the Waynesville Police Department, pulled her vehicle over and detained her as a suspect in the larceny.

The Department of Social Services was alerted to pick up her infant, who was in the back seat, and keep the child until family could pick him up. The television was returned to the store.

Ives is charged with felony larceny and possession of stolen property. She was jailed under a $3,000 secured bond.

On Oct. 3, Melanie Colleen Taylor, 36, of Georgia was arrested on South Main Street in Waynesville after tearing up a traffic violation citation and throwing it out her car window.

According to police reports, Police Officer Tyler Howell of the Waynesville Police Department witnessed Taylor cross a double yellow line to pass a car.

After writing a citation for driving left of center, Howell wrote in reports that he saw the suspect drive away. When he saw her again he wrote that she tore the ticket up, threw it on the ground and yelled obscenities at him.

Howell arrested and charged Taylor with misdemeanor littering and driving left of center. She was released on a written promise to appear in court Nov. 2.

In other arrests, on Sept. 27, Johnny Mack Sutton was arrested and charged with simple assault.

Sept. 28: Tasha Ann Stewar was arrested and charged with communicating threats.

Sept. 28: Samantha Joe Surrett was arrested and charged with failure to appear in court for misdemeanor probation violations, failure to appear in court for possession of schedule II controlled substance, two counts possession of schedule IV controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in court for possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and identity theft.

Sept. 29: Richard Lavelle Smith was arrested and charged with domestic assault on a female and assault on a female.

Sept 29: William Heath Mashburn was arrested and charged with larceny/all other larceny and domestic assault on a female.

Sept. 29: Melinda Fuller Aguirre was arrested and charged with injury to personal property.

Sept. 29: Alyssia Nicole Lindsey was arrested and charged with larceny.

Sept. 30: Larry David Lafferty was arrested and charged with simple assault.

Sept. 30: Dakota Reed Bradshaw was arrested and charged with drug violations/possessing or concealing paraphernalia, failure to appear in court for injury to personal property and second degree trespassing.

Oct. 2: Coty Landon Hauck was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21.

Oct. 2: Richard Marcus Woody was arrested and charged with failure to appear in court for shoplifting, failure to appear in court for driving while license revoked and failure to appear in court for assault on a female and misdemeanor probation violation.

Oct. 4: Zachary Duncan was arrested and charged with simple physical assault.

Oct. 4: Arthur Paul Sutton Jr. was arrested and charged with being drunk and disruptive.
