The Mountain Research Station will host its annual Field Day at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at 265 Test Farm Road in Waynesville. Field Day highlights ongoing agricultural research at the research station. Programs and tours will focus on beef cattle production, equipment demonstrations, farm safety, livestock waste management, composting, silage corn variety selection and production information for vegetables, pumpkins, forages, broccoli and burley tobacco.
Participants can also earn Pesticide and Animal Waste Management Stystem Operator in Charge credits. Field Day is sponsored by the Mountain Research Station, N.C. Cooperative Extension Service and the Haywood Soil and Water Conservation District. The meal is sponsored by Carolina Farm Credit.
