Mountaineers solid in 'Mayhem' scrimmage

The Tuscola High School football team hosted a four-team scrimmaged dubbed “Mayhem in the Mountains” on Saturday night at C.E. Weatherby Stadium.  The scrimmage featured a double-header which opened up with a battle between the Jets of Enka High School and the Black Knights of Robbinsville and was followed by a “mascot battle” between the Mountaineers of Mitchell High School and the Mountaineers of Tuscola High School.
The matchup with Mitchell was Tuscola’s only preseason scrimmage for the 2012 season. “We felt like that one scrimmage within the allotted time was plenty,” said Tuscola head football coach Brandon Allen. “We wanted to focus on us and not too many other opponents.”
