Mrs. Gertrude H. Chambers

Waynesville — Mrs. Gertrude Haney Chambers, 89, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab.

She was born in Haywood County to the late Jess Cordell and Mary Mathews Haney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lush Chambers, and five brothers, Edward C. Haney, Marshall Haney, Ervin L. Haney, Andrew Haney and J. C. Haney, Jr.

Mrs. Chambers was a lifelong member of Crabtree Baptist Church and truly loved her church family and friends. She retired from Dayco with 30 plus years of service.

Left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews, including a special niece Michele Haney Silver, her husband Don and their triplets Mariah, Trey and MacKenzie, who all cared for her during her last few years; and several great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Crabtree Baptist Church. The Revs. Eddie Deitz and Matthew Ledbetter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Crawford Ray Memorial Gardens.
