Michala Muse, of Clyde, was honored with the Reserve Grand Champion Red Angus Heifer at the 2012 North Carolina Junior Beef Heifer Show. This March 2012 Red Angus Heifer, MS Madeline, is the offspring of Muse's previous year's show heifer.

Muse has been showing cattle since she was 5. She is currently a freshman at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, where she is in the pre-nursing program. Muse is a 2012 graduate of Tuscola High School.

She continues to work with her cattle and continues to do the research necessary to build her herd through planned artificial insemination of her cows, even while attending college.  Muse is grateful to those in Haywood County, as well as those throughout the state, who have mentored and helped her over the years.
