On Saturday, lovers of bluegrass and barbecue filled the lawn in front of the historic Francis Mill during Music at the Mill. A larger-than-normal crowd came out to hear music by Balsam Range, the Frog Level Philharmonic and The Hill Country Band — as well eat some finger-licking barbecue. As always, proceeds from the event went toward to preserving the mill, one of the few operational gristmills still in existence in the country. Built by William Francis in 1887, the mill was in fairly steady use until the 1970s. Tanna Timbes, a relative of Francis', organized an effort to restore the mill in recent years.
