‘Round the Fire is the new band name for three local musicians who have played together for several years. Band members Greg Kidd bass, Lee Kram percussion, and Chris Minick electric and acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals, are regulars on the music scene in Waynesville, performing folksy American rock, blues, rock and roll, reggae, swing, and original music.
The group’s playing produces vivid recollections and thoughtful reflections on music from the 60s 70s, and 80s. The May 3rd concert will pay special tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead.
Greg Kidd is a business partner in the award-winning Frog Level Brewing Company. He is also a talented bass player known for his clean style and booming bass line that propels the band’s music.
Originally from St. Louis, Lee Kram has a strong improvisational nature that has provided the percussion and drum support to drive a number of bands and singer-songwriters, both in Western North Carolina and across the US. His stylistic range includes heavy rock, Grateful Dead jam band, bluegrass, jazz, Americana, dixieland, and traditional concert band. Always looking for ways to raise the "musical bar," Kram’s most special current projects are the St. Louis touring band, "Flea Bitten Dawgs," consisting of two ukuleles and percussion, and Waynesville-based, ‘Round the Fire.
Chris Minick has been composing and playing music for over 25 years. His unmistakeable guitar riffs provide a solid background for the music. Minick’s diverse influences include Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead, and other American music pioneers.
