MusicWorks Broadway camp is Aug. 4-8
Ready to hit the stage this summer? No stars shine brighter than those found in the MusicWorks Studio of Performing Arts Musical Theater program.
The upcoming Triple Threats Intensive Camp, Aug. 4-8, is a perfect fit for those seeking to build upon and improve their musical theater talent, as well as for those just getting started. This unique camp is ideal for students with an interest in musical theater and a desire to push themselves to their theatrical limits. In the course of just one week campers will learn how to stage a show and create believable characters without the use of sets or costumes.
Just like professional musical theater actors, campers will have daily sessions in “all things theater” including vocal production and technique, advanced harmonies, diction, characterization and interpretation, audition skills, acting and movement as it relates to vocal performance, and much more.
Students will learn music and scene work from a variety of Broadway shows that will provide students an opportunity to experience all styles from classic musicals to rock operas. At the conclusion of the camp the campers will perform a song and dance revue featuring all of the students.
No prior music, dance, or drama experience is required. The camp is under the direction of MusicWorks owner Lynne Meyer, MW alumni Ben Sears and the newest member of the MusicWorks faculty, Michael Yannette. Guest artists from all areas of the performing arts are scheduled to make cameo appearances throughout the week and lead the campers in mini-workshops.
Campers in fourth grade and up will attend the camp from 110 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students in first through third grades will attend from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.
