MusicWorks is BROADWAY BOUND! July 8-11
Registration is now underway for MusicWorks Studio of Performing Arts summer musical theater camp, Broadway Bound: July 8-11. 2013 has been dubbed "the year kids ran Broadway", due to the overwhelming number of children and youth appearing in current Broadway blockbusters like MATILDA, ANNIE, NEWSIES, and A CHRISTMAS STORY. During the Broadway Bound camp, aspiring Broadway stars will sing, act, and dance their way through 4 days of musical theater madness and mayhem! Just like professional actors, campers will have daily sessions in “all things theater”, including vocal production & technique, characterization & interpretation, audition skills, musical theater dance, choreography and much more! Music and scene work from two of Broadway’s 2013 Tony award- winning shows, MATILDA and A CHRISTMAS STORY, will serve as inspiration for the camp. Additional material from the Broadway productions, YOU’RE a GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN and PIPPIN will also be explored. The sky’s the limit with this camp! Students should expect to work hard, make new friends, and have fun! No prior music, dance, or drama is required. Students between the ages 5-6 years will attend for a 2-hour block of time beginning at 4pm and dismissing at 6pm. The cost is $55 for ages 5-7. Older students, ages 7-18, will begin at 3pm and dismiss at 6pm. The cost for ages 7-18 is $100.00. Sibling discounts are available. For more information or to register for the camp, please phone 565-0381 or visit the website: www.performwithmusicworks.com. The final day to register for the camp is Friday, July 5th. MusicWorks is located at 99 Kingdom Hall Drive (off of Hospital Drive, beyond the Coffee Cup Café in Clyde).
MusicWorks Studio of Performing Arts was established in 2002 by Lynne Wells-Meyer with the objective to provide children and young adults the opportunity to discover and express their talents in the performing arts. Through enrollment in drama, dance and music classes, group master classes, private lessons and participation in stage productions, students develop public speaking skills, build self-confidence, enhance their focus and self-esteem. MusicWorks presents a minimum of two stage productions each year. Past musical theater production favorites include ANNIE, THE MUSIC MAN, BEAUTY and the BEAST, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, SEUSSICAL, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, and ALICE IN WONDERLAND. In the fall of 2013 MusicWorks will present the Disney musical, THE LITTLE MERMAID. MusicWorks students travel annually to the Junior Musical Theater Festival in Atlanta where they have earned top honors including Outstanding Excellence in Ensemble, Outstanding Student Choreography and Direction, and the award for the 2013 Overall Outstanding Male Performer which was presented to Tuscola High School rising senior, Ben Sears.
