WAYNESVILLE — Navus Shiba, 67, native of Sylva, received the ultimate healing from cancer Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Willard and Sadie Shook of Jackson County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kuni Shiba; three brothers, Talmage, Mitchell and Denis Shook, from Virginia.
She lived in Waynesville but often went to Kentucky to spend time with her son and granddaughter, “lady bug.” She had a wonderful smile and courageous attitude. She loved to go to the movies and shop with her daughter. She attended many after-school activities that her grandson participated in. Her best friend, Judy Carver, was her companion on many trips to Asheville for “girls’ day out.”
She is survived by her daughter, Misti Carver and her husband, Charles, of Canton; son, Craig Shiba, of Kentucky; brother, Randall Shook, of Virginia; two grandchildren, Chris Jones, of Canton and Lindsey Shiba, of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be celebrating her strength, courage and devotion to her family and friends at North Canton Baptist Church at 11 a.m. March 15.
