Dr. Eric Mansfield, who is running for North Carolina Democratic Party chairman, will host a meet and greet at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, at Sid’s on Main, 117 Main St. in Canton.All registered Democrats are welcome to attend. Mansfield was born in Louisiana and grew up in Columbus, Georgia.He attended Morehouse School of Medicine and completed his surgical and otolaryngology residency at Tulane University School of Medicine.Afterwards, he relocated to Ft. Bragg, NC, where he served as the chief of otolaryngology services at Womack Army Medical Center.During this time, he was deployed to Kosovo. After leaving the military, Mansfield established his ear, nose, and throat practice in Fayetteville where he has been active in the community.He acts as minister to young adults at Lewis Chapel Baptist Church, was co-founder and board president of Father’s Foundation, and is currently a board member for the Cape Fear Regional Bureau for Community Action, Inc.
