WAYNESVILLE — Neil Gordon Cranstoun Swayne, 42, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at The Homestead hospice center in Clyde after a two-year battle with cancer.
Neil was born in Alexandria, Scotland, and spent his childhood in Helensburgh before moving to Largs. Neil graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with an honors degree in social sciences. Neil was a resident of Haywood County for 12 years. He was an IT support analyst at MedWest Haywood. Outside of work, Neil enjoyed home automation, watching “Doctor Who” with his son and spending time with family and friends.
Neil is survived by his wife, Amy Kathryn Pryor-Swayne, of Waynesville; his parents, Hugh and Mary Swayne, of Largs, Scotland; his sister, Karen Swayne, of Largs, Scotland; his son, Ethan Andrew Cranstoun Swayne, and Ethan’s mother, Tina Cagle Swayne, of Clyde.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville. The Rev. John Lindsay will officiate. A graveside service for family will be held Tuesday, March 11.
