Always Smiling, Always Loving

WAYNESVILLE — Nell Allen Wyatt, 90, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at 10:38 p.m. at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Kay and Mamie Crawford Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wid Woodrow Wyatt who died January 26, 2011; two sisters, Blanche Phillips and Ruth Moody and two brothers, Roy and Lucious “Tudd” Allen.

Nell was a 1944 Waynesville Township High School graduate. She was an active member of Allens Creek Baptist Church where she was involved in many aspects of the church including women and children’s ministries and was a member of the Golden Harvesters choir. Nell was a simple lady who adored her family and always showed a caring concern for others. She was outgoing, someone who never met a stranger, enjoyed travelling, having visited many states throughout the U.S. and enjoyed watching birds visit her bird feeder. Nell will be remembered for her beautiful smile that always accompanied her until her last breath.

She is survived by two daughters, Delores Dudley and her husband, Robert and Sharon Rathbone and her husband, David Charles all of Waynesville; a sister, Grace Middleton of Waynesville; a grandson, Wayne Dudley and his wife, Ashley of Waynesville; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Wid Dudley and George Wyatt Dudley and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Eddie Deitz and Lloyd Fish, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Wyatt will lie in state from 1:30 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
