New Bishopric named for Waynesville Ward
The Asheville North Carolina Stake Presidency of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints called a Bishopric for the Waynesville Ward on Sunday, July 20.
James Morris McLachlan has been called as bishop succeeding Stephen Adler, who served for the six and a half years. McLachlan is a professor of philosophy and religion at Western Carolina University.
Called to assist McLachlan as first counselor was Richard Charles Wood Jr., regional solution engineer with Avaya in Waynesville, and as second counselor, James Cole Wessling, CMM technician with Con Med in Bryson City.
All callings in the church are voluntary and when members accept a calling, they accept it in addition to retaining their current employment.
The new Bishopric will be responsible for members living in the ward boundaries, which extend from Canton to Sylva and Cullowhee.
Waynesville Ward Chapel is located at 68 Foxwood Drive, Waynesville. Members and visitors meet for Sacrament at 10 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 11:20 a.m.
