By the time seasonal residents return to the county and the Lake Junaluska spring events hit their stride, there will be a new eating place to enjoy at 1168 Dellwood Road where diners will be able to enjoy pork and chicken prepared Jamaican style.

The site of the long-familiar Granny's Chicken Palace has been leased by Patrick Burgin of One Love Restaurant, which specializes in authentic Jamaican cuisine and will be offering dishes such as jerk chicken and pork, curried chicken, baby-back ribs and more.

Burgin was sprucing up the place last week, painting widow trim and getting ready for new flooring inside.

Burgin operated One Love restaurant on the old Asheville highway outside Canton until closing in early March to focus on getting his new location ready that he is leasing from Lake Junaluska. The building is at the west entrance to the lake, which purchased the building last year.

Expansion plans at the lake call for the eventual removal of the restaurant, but this is years away, Burgin said.
