New store on Waynesville's Main Street is for the birds
Bird lovers have a new place to drop in on Waynesville’s Main Street.
Pleasant Places, which opened two weeks ago, features wild bird feed and garden accessories for the most ardent of bird lovers and even the occasional gardener.
Liz Russell, who owns the store with her husband Leon, said the store contributes a lot to the town of Waynesville and the personality of Main Street.
“We know it’s a popular pastime and hobby and it’s something we’ve always enjoyed,” said Russell. “There’s not [a store] like this open anywhere around here.”
The small, neatly organized shop features birdseed, birdhouses of various sizes and other items for garden decoration. The birdseed, said Russell, is really high-quality and popular with wild birds.
“They eat it all and don’t leave a mess,” she said.
