Newberry’s ‘two-sport’ standout

NEWBERRY, S.C. — When former Tuscola multi-sport standout Brittany Singleton signed a grant-in-aid back in May to play women’s basketball at Newberry College, it was assumed she she would concentrate all her efforts for the hardwood.
But for the highly-competitive Singleton, that isn’t her style.  
Once she arrived on campus, she decided she wanted to play soccer while waiting for basketball to begin.  
It turns out that Newberry got more than their money’s worth.
“Playing two sports in college is definitely a challenge,” said Singleton. “But with a lot of hard work and both programs supporting me it makes going to two practices every day worth the effort.  I was very pleased to get the opportunity to play both soccer and basketball, and the past two matches all that work has finally began to ...
