The Commission for a Clean County (CCC) will be doing a hands-on litter pickup for Haywood County on Saturday, July 12.

The route will be the mile stretch between the Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church and Ferguson’s Café and Gas, also known as “Rush Fork.”

All volunteers will meet a little before 9 a.m. in the parking lot at the church, located at 1128 Max Patch Road, Clyde. Bags, gloves and vests will be provided to all volunteers.

The CCC already has done litter pick-ups this season in Waynesville and Canton. The remaining schedule for pickups is Aug. 9, Clyde, and Sept. 13, Maggie Valley. If October weather is good, the group is available for special requests.

The CCC, an environmental cleanliness board, performs this service for each town in Haywood County and for a county road. The group works from May through September or October, depending on weather.

Litter pickups are done in a light drizzle, but are cancelled if there is a heavy rain or electrical storm.
