Nominate for Haywood County/NC Governor’s Award for volunteer service

By Haywood Community Connections | Mar 05, 2013

The Haywood Jackson Volunteer Center is taking nominations for North Carolina’s Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service.

The Haywood Jackson Volunteer Center will select nominated volunteers in a host of categories to receive the Haywood County Volunteer of the Year that will then be sent to the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism to be considered for the North Carolina Volunteer of the Year Medallion Award.  Haywood County will celebrate our volunteers in a ceremony during National Volunteer Week in April 2013.

Our volunteers submitted 19,000 hours of service in 2012, just a fraction of volunteer service in Haywood County.

Haywood County’s own Judy Vail was a recipient of the Medallion Award last year for her service in the community with STAR Ranch.

Recognize volunteers by filling in a North Carolina Outstanding Volunteer Award form available at the Haywood Jackson Volunteer Center,  81 Elmwood Way, or e-mail John at

Entries must be submitted by April 5.

Give a special thanks to Haywood volunteers during National Volunteer Week.
