 The tournament is in recognition of National Chess Day.  All ages and levels of players are welcome.

Johnnie Sue Meyers, author of The Gathering Place: Traditional Cherokee Dishes and Southern Appalachian Cooking 

Her specialties are the preparation of wild game meats and the gathering and preparation of wild vegetables in the Cherokee and Southern Appalachian traditions.  She will be serving Sweet and Sour venison meatballs and Cherokee Apple Cake.

Each Monday at 10:30 am   Book Babies—story time for children four years old and younger

Second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm   Mountain Writers Group—a group of poets, authors, and literary lovers. It's an open to anyone who would like to attend.

Each Thursday from 2:00 pm until 4:00pm   Smoky Mountain Chess Club—local chess club welcomes players of all levels.
