Old Crab Day celebration set for July 20

Old Crab Day celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 20 at the Cruso Community Center (the old schoolhouse on South U.S. 276, Canton).

At 3 p.m., there will be the crowning of 2013 “Old Crab.” Fetival-goers may also enjoy pony rides, face painting and other children’s games.  Local crafter’s will hold demonstrations, such as hand quilting, rug hooking and basket making.   Enjoy live music, dancing and the antique cars and gnarly trucks on display.  Lunch and a take home barbecue dinner will be served. There will also be bake sale and the “Friendship Ladies” famous fried pies.  Attendees can pay 25 cents to vote for the “Old Crab.” The funds raised will be used for scholarships and the continued refurbishing of the community center.
