All Day

Morning Star United Methodist Church will be celebrating the 122nd annual Old Folks Day and the 186th anniversary of the establishment of the church on Sunday, September 9th. Rev. David Ortigoza invites the community to join us for the day.

The day begins with Sunday school for all ages at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Ortigoza will be delivering the morning message with special music included in the service. Dinner on the ground follows as friends and family gather under the oak trees for a shared meal--with many dishes that have become a tradition for the day. The 'old folks' (70+) will join on the steps for a photograph for the history book. The church bell rings out around 1 o'clock in the afternoon for those who wish to go inside to sing the shaped-note songs, also known as Christian Harmony. Others may wish to sit in the sanctuary and listen to the unique melodies of the past.

If you wish to join us for dinner, please bring a covered dish and an appetite.

Travel approximately 2 miles from downtown Canton -- Academy Street to Dutch Cove Road.
