WAYNESVILLE — Otho Vera “Spunk” Cagle Jr., 82, of Waynesville, passed away Feb. 20, 2013, at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. A native of Jackson County, he was born Aug. 10, 1930, to the late O.V Cagle Sr. and Louise Bishop Cagle.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda Welch Cagle; a sister, Gwen Cagle Moses, of Charlotte; children, Cindy Lane Price, and her husband, Steve,  of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Robert Vance Cagle and Joseph Welch Green, both of Waynesville; and two grandchildren, Susanna Wyckoff Cagle and Herman Dana Voss.

Mr. Cagle graduated from Western Carolina University, where he participated in many sports. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Dayco with 36 years of service.

Spunk loved his family, his church and his brothers of the Masonic Lodge # 259, where he served as Master in 2010. He spent many hours outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman that enjoyed the company of his many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Hazelwood Presbyterian Church, with visitation to follow at the church. The family will be at the home of Jody Green.
