Loving Grandpa

CANTON — Otis Wayne Rathbone, 61, of 83 Pisgah Drive, passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Doyle Calvin and Opal Wood Rathbone. Otis had a passion for constructing birdhouses and built many of them for surrounding churches, The Homestead Hospice, friends, and family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and also enjoyed fishing for trout.

He is survived by one daughter, Tina Barker and her husband, Terry Lee, of Waynesville; one son, Allan Rathbone and her fiancé, Lyla, of Tryon; two sisters, Pearl Green and Gypsy French; two brothers, Ned Carver and Marvin Cook; and two grandchildren, Cynthia and Emmalyn Rathbone.
