Park visitation increases
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park recorded 657,935 visitors during November 2012 which is an 8.6 percent increase, or 52,192 more visitors, over November 2011.
The park is showing a year to date visitation of 9,204,736 people. This number is a 7.8 percent increase, or 667,508 more visitors, than what was recorded between January and November 2011.
There was a discrepancy in last month’s reported visitation statistics due to a calculation error on the online statistics website. October 2012 was actually slightly above the 2011 numbers instead of slightly below. The number of visitors in October 2012 should have been 1,133,604.
