Parkway opening schedule cut back due to budget cuts

Because of the five percent budget reduction that is in place as a result of the current federally mandated sequestration, the Blue Ridge Parkway is unable to hire its full complement of seasonal employees.

Therefore park visitors will notice some facility closures and reduced hours and services in some areas. The current opening schedule for those facilities that will open this year, calls for these areas to be fully operational by May 24.
