'Penaltygate!'

By Chuck Fiebernitz | Sep 01, 2012

ROBBINSVILLE — The Pisgah varsity football team lost at Robbinsville, 56-35, Friday night.

But the real story of the game was the Black Bears and Black Knights were flagged for a North Carolina High School Athletic Association record 40 penalties for a scandalous 360 yards.

Robbinsville had 19 penalties for 165 yards compared to Pisgah's 21 infractions for 195 yards. A total of 14 of the 40 penalties called in the non-conference contest were unsportsmanlike conduct.

Robbinsville improved to 3-0 and Pisgah dropped to 1-2 overall.

Asheville 35, Tuscola 21

ASHEVILLE - The Tuscola varsity football team slipped to 0-3 on the season when the Mountaineers suffered a 35-21 defeat at Asheville High Friday night.
