Performers compete for Haywood's Got Talent Title

For the third year, the Haywood Arts Regional Theater is sponsoring the area’s biggest talent showcase with a $1,000 top prize, to be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the HART Theatre in Waynesville.

The audience along with three judges will select a winner and a runner-up. Judges Ann Rhymer Schwabland, Raymond Yarnutoski and Wanda Taylor will make the difficult decision. Schwabland is the composer and co-creator of HART’s “Christmas Carol,”  Yarnutoski has worked in theater in Florida and Stage Managed many HART productions and Taylor is a veteran HART actress and director.

Each will have a ballot counting for 25 percent and the audience will receive ballots as well accounting for the final quarter in the decision making.

The line up for the finals will include: Rac Sharaka Dance Company, Kara White, Hannah Brooks, Ben Sears, Charlotte Rogers, Productive Paranoia, Ricky Sanford, Samantha Mulholland, Dominic Frost, Reagan Mulvey, Madison Garris, Emilie Thompson, Randy Robins.

Tickets to the Haywood’s Got Talent Finals are $16 for adults and $8 for students and are available on line at The box office is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 6:30 p.m. until show.

Seating is reserved. The event is being presented as a fund raiser for HART, one of the region’s most active theater companies. HART, located in Waynesville, is now in its 28th season and presents a year round schedule of plays and musicals from its home, the Performing Arts Center at the Shelton House located at 250 Pigeon St. in downtown Waynesville. The theater’s main auditorium will be the site of the event.
