Loving Mother and Grandmother
WAYNESVILLE — Phyllis Wyatt Gibbs passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of the late William Wyatt and the late Letha Buchanan Wyatt. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Mae Wyatt and Irene Wyatt, and a great-grandson, Zachary Alan Gibbs.
Phyllis retired from Dayco Corporation and also from Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church in Clyde. In Phyllis’s own words, “First and foremost, my most important job was being a mother and a grandmother”.
She is survived by her husband, John Phillip Gibbs; three sons, Jamey (Ginny) Gibbs, of Clyde, Joey Gibbs, of Waynesville, and Hoppy (Elen) Gibbs, of Claremont; six grandchildren, Josh, Tara, Brittany, Hannah, Jonah and Gracie Tyler-Gibbs; a brother, Gary (Jean) Wyatt, of Monrovia, California; two sisters, Kathleen Wyatt, of Waynesville, and Sharon (Ronnie) Devlin, of Pleasant Shade, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life was held Saturday, Aug. 16, at New Beginning Baptist Church in Clyde.
