Pisgah NJROTC advances to championship

Four cadets from Pisgah’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) unit traveled Dec. 18, to Mooresville, to compete in the Area Six Marksmanship Regional qualifying match.  Area Six consists of 65 Navy JROTC units from North and South Carolina.

Of the eight teams in the region, Pisgah placed second, qualifying to move on and compete in the Area Six Marksmanship championship Jan. 12, at White Knoll High School in South Carolina.

Rifle team commander, Rachel Brooks, shot a score of 478 out of a possible 600, placing at third highest shooter overall in the match. This is the third time in Pisgah school history that the marksmanship team has advanced to the championship round, the team has made it three consecutive years now.

Cadet Rachel Brooks is Pisgah Air Rifle Commander.
