Junior Black Bears improve to 3-0; begin preparations for WNCAC opponents

CANTON — The Pisgah junior varsity football team amassed 291 yards on the ground en route to a 26-6 drubbing of Madison in a non-conference game at Memorial Stadium Thursday night.
The Black Bears improved to 3-0 overall and will be idle next week before jumping into the WNC Athletic Conference slate at East Henderson on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Freshman Isaiah Fisher edged out sophomore Garrett Jones by a yard for top rusher in the game.
Fisher rushed for 93 yards on 15 carrie, including a 10-yard run midway through the third quarter to give the Black Bears a 20-0 lead. He has rushed for 438 yards through three games, which leads the team.
Jones only carried the ball five times for 92 yards and scored on an 82-yard gallop early in the fourth quarter to give the Pisgah JVs a 26-0 lead.
Sophomore Daniel Vanvaerenberg rushed for 57 yards on three carries for the Black Bears, while freshman Chris Rogers contributed 32 rushing yards on four carries and sophomore Christian Jones finished with 25 yards on the ground.
With 4:04 left in the first quarter, Chris Rogers scored on a 23 yards run and Fisher ran in the conversion to give Pisgah an 8-0 lead.
The Black Bears took a 14-0 lead into halftime thanks to Christian Jones’ 36-yard punt returned for a touchdown with 7:34 left in the second quarter.
Pisgah finished with a 320-104 advantage in total offense.
