Pisgah, Tuscola fans help "Pack the Pantry"

Tuscola not only took the lead in the rival football game against Pisgah last week, but also won in the battle to collect the most food for the Pack the Pantry Food Drive.

Much like the football game, though, Tuscola did not lead Pisgah by much when it came to the weight of food collected.

This year, Tuscola collected 4,986 pounds and Pisgah collected 4,901 pounds, bringing the total to 9,887 pounds of food to stock the shelves at Haywood Christian Ministry and the Canton Community Kitchen.

This year's collection from the rivalry game exceeded last year's by 685 pounds.

Dean Trader, Assistant Finance Director for the Town of Waynesville, praised both schools for their effort to feed the hungry in Haywood County.
